I have it. Don’t know about you but I do. It feels good when I go against it. As if I’m rebelling against my parents or something like that. The truth is I try to match a lot of stuff but I secretly admire so much those who don’t need to match anything in their lives, it’s just a very bold way of living. If you look around, even nature shows us that is better to harmonize things together than trying to perfectly match them.

I found this picture in one of the many blogs I read and completely forgot where it belongs now (If you know, let me know so I can credit the designer and blogger).

Anyhow, to move forward tours this way of life I have decided to look at pictures like this one as a constant reminder of how fresh, unique and humble can random things look together. I confess, I would’ve never thought all those elements can look good together. They complement each other. What an eye!

If you know of more pictures that can help me get rid of my syndrome please point them out for me

Well, I do. Long ago I was very excited to give my house a new touch. remember? I haven’t done all I wanted, but I’m still inspired, specially after my vacations in Caracas. People there put so much love into their homes, it feels very warm and cozy, and it’s not about expensive modern stuff, it’s all about attention to detail and making ones home a very personal space for oneself and also a very welcoming space for others. The true is that interior design can only be appreciated if you actually spend time in the space. The difference between here and there is that her people in general live a more solitude life style therefore are less inspired to make their space nice since not that many people visit them anyways. Well, I know I’m generalizing, I have felt and seen beautiful homes in the states too. Anyways, where was I? oh yes! INSPIRED, the magic word. I got very inspired and I’m back into projects for 2009. The first one and most needed one is the landscaping of the house, since the money is not ready yet for that, I’m gonna start with all the drawings, visioning and pretty photos of before and after so I can get the ball rolling!

Before I do that I wanted to give you an update on my last project.

Remember this fabric?

This is what I did with it!

This is my house entrance. Before, there wasn’t any furniture here. We went and got the IKEA cabinets and my sis gave me the sitting shoe rack combo . I made the cushion without sewing one thing, just stapled it and glued it to a bookboard. I wish I had photos of the process, but we were very focused on the making at the time.

I hope this Inspires you too!

My husband Jorge and I won a contest that IKEA is doing to promote the movie MAMMA MIA. We are going to participate in a ceremony along with other 19 couples, some will be renewing their vows like us and others will be getting married right there at IKEA Burbank in California. Best part of all we will get prizes and an IKEA gift certificate of $500, plus the preview screening of the movie and a beautiful reception. Wow, I can’t believe, we won all that.

Now, even though I’m pretty sure I manifested this prize out of all my crazy furnishing lists and obsessing decoration ideas after we moved this past November. I’m now so confused to what to get, what room should I start with?, and how to combine design unique ideas with IKEA clever stuff ?. Help!!! …. I know it’s only $500 but shouldn’t I take advantage and decorate the whole house?, ok. I might not be able to do that but I will take advantage of the decoration drive I’m experiencing and make my house cute and warm once and for all.

I love “before and after” photos, so for sure I will be showing you some of those. The hard part of it is choosing all the prizes t-o-g-e-t-h-e-r, but somehow I will manage to use my female skills to ge away with what I want, that’s what I’m hoping.

In the mean time, these are the photos that inspired me in my IKEA search today

This is how I want the living room set up, a TV stand and some shelves or cabinets above the TV, I like the bottom one better so far.

By the way I’m Dariana the youngest sister, chau.
